Is your light shining?

“This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine”

That isn’t just a cute little song the kids sing at church that should be a song we keep with us when we go through our day to day life. As Christians the world is looking at our lifestyle. They are looking to see if what we are saying is lining up with how we’re living. They are looking to see if how we’re living is lining up with what the bible says. I've learned over the past few months you NEVER know who is watching you. You may not think that you’re a big impact or a “big deal” but people are certainly watching.

I posted a video today on YouTube. My YouTube video “what is your purpose in the lives of the people around you”. I spoke on how I asked God to show me my purpose in the lives of the people in my life because I know that once the season is over and I’m holding onto something God is telling me is over. I’m outside the will of God, and when we step outside the will of God things tend to get messy. So long story short someone told me they were an atheist; right away it made sense as to my purpose in this person’s life. I was so concerned and felt horrible for that person because I don’t want anybody to go to hell, but I realized all I can do is pray for them and let my light shine. People aren’t looking to have the bible read to them; people aren’t looking for you to lay hands on them they want to see. “Do you not know the tree by the fruit?” We are to be the salt; we are to preserve the word of God.

Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Acts 26:18 To open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

How do you think a nonbeliever is going to be interested in our God if we are living like them? Not just partying like them, dating like them, but thinking like them. Even showing a lack of faith in our God, showing a lack of trust, and being disobedient. How are you gonna win souls if you can’t endure, if you can’t trust God to go where he’s telling you to go?

I talk about the power God has placed in us often, because it’s true. Our bodies are holy temples because The Holy spirit dwells within us. Therefore we have the power within us. This means there’s a presence that comes with us when we come. Have you ever walked into a room and the people in the room where sinning; cursing, drinking etc, and time you walked in they stopped? Or have you been around a person that you know curses ALL the time, but when they talk to you they don’t use those words? You think they stop because your so cute ? No it’s the presence that comes with you. Just how the bible says we battle not against flesh and blood but against powers.. this is a spiritual warfare. The spirits know you’re a child of God they know certain things can’t go down when you’re around and that’s usually because your light has been shining. Now if you’re in a club no the people aren’t gonna stop what they’re doing lol I’m talking mainly about people you know or come in contact often and even then that doesn’t always work. When I was younger my cousin’s would try to get me to drink, but I always told them “No I don’t drink”. They don’t ask me anymore because I’ve upheld my integrity.(It’s a relationship the holy spirit doesn’t allow ME to drink, I don’t have that desire. Not to say anything about those that do drink) Things should change when you show up because the spirits know and the people should know that you are a child of God.

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

As Christians we have to stand up for God. I think we have gotten so used to seeing sin being accepted that we are immune to it. We are no longer bothered by people who curse. We are no long bothered by people who get drunk. We are no longer bothered by purposely making the decision to sin. We see it so much on tv and in the songs we aren’t phased. This is why we NEED to guard our heart. We are letting these little seeds be planted that sinning is okay, or doing a little of that is okay. You can’t almost be pregnant and you can’t almost be Christian. You’re all in or you aren’t in at all! YES it’s THAT dramatic! Day and night are dramatic and polar opposites same as walking in light or walking in dark. You can’t walk in the dark or be okay with ANYTHING dark and claim to be light. It’s not possible figuratively it’s not possible literally. We have to stand up for Christ and let our light shine. We should never be okay with darkness, and darkness should flee when we come around because light over powers darkness always!

God corrects those he loves. We too have to correct the ones we love (and that should be everyone because God is love, he love’s everyone). I’m not saying going around telling people they’re going to hell because they do this or that lol. No. I would say ask God to show you have to reach people, but I guarantee you one of the ways he will tell you is your lifestyle. People should know you’re a Christian by your lifestyle. They should know by the way you treat others, by the way you speak. They should just know! You don’t have to know ALL the scriptures to be seen as a Christian either, because the devil knows the bible also. You have to live it! Live out what God is telling you, keep the commandments remain obedient and let your light shine, at ALL times!

John 8:12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Also apart of letting your light shine is standing up against evil. So many people wonder why evil things just keep happening, it's because people aren't standing up. The people that should be standing up are The Christians! 

Psalm 94:16 says" Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?"

We aren't to just sit back and watch evil happen, sitting back and doing nothing is like condoning it. Something has to be done.

God has chosen to do good works through his children, it's up to us to make good things happened, which means our light has to shine. We have to stand up and stand out against evil. Our lights can't shine if we are condoning adultery by watching shows promoting it, or homosexuality. In church we say it's a sin, but when we are at home "it's just tv" No you've JUST been tricked by the enemy! Your light has just been dimmed because you choose to condone a behavior instead of standing up against it. 

Understand letting your light shine is more than just doing good works, it's actually standing for other good works. It's standing up against evil and letting satan and the world know you don't support it, you don't agree with it.
